Description

A simplified, beginner-friendly recipe for crispy Bang Bang Shrimp made in an air fryer. This dish features a creamy, spicy, and sweet sauce and requires minimal ingredients and effort for a restaurant-quality result at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • Cooking spray (olive oil or avocado oil)
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup sweet chili sauce
  • 23 tablespoons sriracha
  • 1 teaspoon lime juice
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Thaw frozen shrimp if necessary and pat them completely dry with paper towels.
  2. Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls: one with flour and a pinch of salt, one with beaten eggs, and one with panko breadcrumbs.
  3. Dredge each shrimp in flour, shaking off excess, then dip in egg wash, and finally press into panko breadcrumbs to coat thoroughly.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, lime juice, and garlic powder to make the sauce.
  5. Preheat air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3 minutes.
  6. Arrange breaded shrimp in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving space between them.
  7. Lightly spray the tops of the shrimp with cooking oil.
  8. Cook for 5 minutes, then flip the shrimp and spray the other side with oil.
  9. Cook for another 3-5 minutes until shrimp are pink, opaque, and crispy.
  10. Transfer hot shrimp to a large bowl and toss gently with the Bang Bang sauce.
  11. Serve immediately.

Notes

Ensure shrimp are completely dry before breading to prevent soggy coating. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches if necessary. Toss shrimp in sauce immediately before serving to maintain crispiness. Store leftovers separately from sauce and reheat in air fryer.
