Description
A simple, no-bake 3-ingredient snack made with rolled oats, ripe bananas, and peanut butter. These chewy bites are perfect for busy mornings, lunchboxes, and healthy snacking.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
- 2 large ripe bananas (mashed, approx. 250g)
- 1/2 cup natural peanut butter (creamy or crunchy)
- 2 tablespoons chia seeds (optional)
- 1–2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (optional, for sweetness)
- 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
- Mash the ripe bananas thoroughly in a large mixing bowl until smooth with no large chunks.
- Add the peanut butter to the mashed bananas and mix until fully combined.
- Pour in the rolled oats, chia seeds (if using), and vanilla extract. Stir with a spatula until a thick, sticky dough forms.
- Fold in chocolate chips if using.
- Wet your hands slightly with water or dip in peanut butter to prevent sticking.
- Take a tablespoon-sized amount of mixture and roll into balls (approx. 1.5 inches in diameter). Place on a lined baking sheet.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes (or 15 minutes in freezer) to firm up.
- Transfer to an airtight container and store in the fridge or freezer.
Notes
Use very ripe bananas with brown spots for natural sweetness and better binding. Do not use instant or quick oats as they will make the bites mushy. If the mixture is too dry, add more banana or peanut butter; if too wet, add more oats. Chill time is essential for the bites to hold their shape.
