Sticky Honey Garlic Chicken Wings

  • Author: Melano
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4-6 servings 1x

Description

A quick, stovetop method for making addictive, sticky, and savory-sweet chicken wings using simple pantry ingredients. Perfect for busy weeknights or game day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 pounds chicken wings (flat and drumette mix)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • Salt and black pepper (to taste)
  • ½ cup honey
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, freshly grated
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 23 stalks green onions, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Pat chicken wings completely dry with paper towels and toss in a bowl with cornstarch, salt, and pepper until lightly coated.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add wings in a single layer (cook in batches if necessary) and cook for 5-6 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy. Remove to a plate lined with paper towels.
  3. Reduce heat to medium. Add minced garlic and grated ginger to the pan and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Pour in honey, soy sauce, and rice vinegar. Stir well and simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sauce bubbles and thickens slightly.
  5. Return cooked wings to the pan and toss gently to coat thoroughly in the sauce. Add red pepper flakes and sesame oil, tossing one more time.
  6. Transfer to a serving platter, sprinkle with sliced green onions and sesame seeds, and serve immediately.

Notes

Pat wings dry thoroughly for crispiness. Do not overcrowd the pan. Honey burns easily, so keep heat at medium when adding sauce. For extra crispy wings, bake at 400°F for 5 minutes after frying. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days; reheat in a skillet with a splash of water.
